Description
A Single Owner Lifetime Collection Selling Without Reserve! From a world traveler who extensively studied the decorative arts from France, CASTLES and ATTICS in partnership with RIPLEY AUCTIONS is proud to present a fine assemblage of classically inspired furniture, decorative objects, books and art. The word symmetry certainly summarizes this selection as we offer several sets of chairs, lustres, candelabra, prints, and porcelains. How often does one hear "I love that chair, but if only there were a pair"? In this amazing online only auction, you have the opportunity to select from not one pair, not two pair, but from seven pairs of chairs. You will appreciate the attention to detail and quality in the selection of period appropriate fabrics chosen for their upholstery. Several pairs of marble urns, tripods, garnitures, and candlesticks have ormolu mounts and would look great on any mantel or chest of drawers. You have not only two dining room tables from which to choose, but three sets of dining chairs make it difficult to decide which may be best for you. The classical French styles are abundant in several case pieces: a Kendall chest features three locking drawers, subtle ormolu mounts, and two keys (one with tassel!); in the Louis XV style, a stunning sculptured edge piece of marble tops three drawers with not only parquetry AND marquetry, but beautiful ormolu mounts on the drawers, the sides, and the legs of this fine case piece. Romantic themed landscapes, epic battle scenes, and lush floral oil paintings-all in ornate gold frames-are ready to hang above your fireplace or in your den. Detailed Meissen and large bisque figurines can occupy your china cabinet, or, if in need of one, a lovely Louis XIV style example with glass shelves, ormolu mounts, and a marquetry panel on the door can contain them perfectly. Perhaps you prefer instead to display one or more of the stunning signed Austrian portrait plates or a few of the hand painted Empire style cups and saucers. It will certainly be difficult to choose between two pairs of gold dore bronze andirons to place in front of your fireplace, as they are both magnificent. Napoleonic images abound: gilt frames, prints, books, and plates prominently feature his visage and that of his court throughout the entire collection. Rounding out this incredible sale is a fine selection of sets of leather bound books. Classical literature and the arts as well as science are among the many titles. Feel free to peruse this amazing offering at your leisure in our online catalog. While the appraised values are included in the description, they are merely guides to possible insurance value. This is entirely an unreserved auction, meaning there are absolutely no reserves (or minimum bids) on anything. This is an estate that must be liquidated to settle the estate of an advanced and focused collector. Feel free to bid your own price, and good luck! This is a Lifetime Collection! After cataloging the estate it was clear that Sam started his collection in the 1970s and refined it into the 2000's. Every detail was harvested in Sams mind from the tables that held a lamp to which style of Bronze knob would be placed on every cabinet door. I got to view each receipt with personal drawings & details added as well as take note of each page marked in his Christies Catalog Collection as to why a similar piece made its way into his home one day!
